Mary Jean "Lily" Tomlin is an American actress, comedian, writer, singer and producer. Tomlin began her career as a freelance actress and performed Off-Broadway in the 1960s. Her lead role was on the Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In variety show from 1969 to 1973. She currently plays Frankie Bergstein on Netflix Grace and Frankie series, which debuted in 2015 and received nominations for four Primetime Emmy Awards, three Actors Association Screen Awards, and the Globe Awards. In 1974, Tomlin was chosen by Robert Altman in his first film; Her performance as Linnea Reese in Nashville has earned her several Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actress. In 1977, her performance as Margo Sperling in The Late Show earned her the Best Actress award at the Berlin International Film Festival and nominations for the Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards for Actresses.
