Gopalakrishnan Padmanabhan, known by his stage name Dileep, is an Indian actor, producer and businessman mainly engaged in the Malayalam film industry. He has appeared in more than 150 films and won a number of awards, including four Kerala State Cinema Awards and a Filmfare Awards South. Starting out as an impressionist in theater shows, Dileep gained recognition after being cast in the comic book series Comicola on Asianet and being succeeded by Cinemala. Dilieep produced and starred alongside Nadirshah in the De Maveli Kombathu audiocassette series, a hit sketch comedy that was later adapted into a TV series on Asianet. He started his film career as an assistant director and worked under director Kamal on nine films, starting with Vishnulokam in 1991, and making his debut as a minor role in Kamal's.
